There are three of these display racks in this room. Two of them house up to 500 titles which are active subscriptions. The other rack against the stair wall holds our current newspapers (tabloid format). The most current issue will be displayed, and the older ones will be placed in the area underneath the current one. If you do not see the most current issue of a newspaper, it might that someone is reading it, or it has not been received yet(as some of them come in a day late via mail)

To find information on our periodical holdings, like what titles we have and what issues we have, what subjects are covered, etc., you may use, depending on your location and your preference:

our electronic public access catalog -ECAT (on tables throughout the library)

our web page, from any internet connected computer, http://nv2.commnet.edu/library/

hard copy in note books kept in reference and at the circulation desk.

To find older issues(back issues) of periodicals, those older than the last four issues, you would would need to go into the stacks where such issues are kept. You get into the stacks, by entering any open doorway with a pink or reddish door. You’ll find one of these doors immediately to left or right of the circulation desk at the entrance to the library(right near the base of the visible interior stairs). Pictured is the door on the right side of the circulation area. Note the pink door in the center of this picture.

Almost one whole side of the stack area on this level is devoted to back issues of periodicals, the other areas on this floor house reference books, law books, and videos. Titles in the stacks are arranged alphabetically, and within each title, issues are arranged chronologically. The first row of periodicals starts with back issues of newspapers. At the outside of this row, you can see a aisle sheet which says NEWSPAPERS - BACKISSUES indicating which titles we hold and for how long each is held.
