Fighting Viruses
Viruses are always a threat to your computer system as demonstrated in the recent outbreak of the LoveBug Virus. At NVCC, our computers use Norton AntiVirus software to protect our PC's from viruses. Computers on campus are currently using two versions of Norton AntiVirus software, either Norton AntiVirus 2000 or Norton AntiVirus V5.0.
To find out which version your computer is using, do the following:
1) Look in the system tray
(bottom right hand corner of your screen) and double-click on the Norton
AntiVirus Auto-Protect Enabled Icon. This icon looks like a computer:
or ![]()
2) When this icon opens up, look in the bottom right
hand corner of the new window. If it says Norton AntiVirus 2000, then
click here to learn how to Update
Norton AntiVirus 2000.
3) If you look at the top of the new window and it says
"Norton AntiVirus V5.0", then click here to Update
Norton AntiVirus V5.0.

Kakworm Information
To avoid the Kakworm viruses, be sure that virus definitions are up to date. Our IT staff finds that the Kakworm virus gets into PC's when the virus definitions are not regularly updated.
The Kakworm viruses are very difficult to get rid of. This document references a good website that will help in eliminating the virus on your PC.
